Making his father proud!

Everybody knows that Manchester United is the best football club in the English league. And everybody knows that FH is the best in all of Iceland. And even though the Icelandic national team isn't the greatest, the under 21 team has a lot of promise. So just you wait, in a few years Iceland might just win the World cup!
...at least that is what I have been taught ever since I got married... :)

All this said, you could imagine Binni's happiness when Markús Sunday afternoon showed his excitement for the greatest sport known to man.

Rock Star!!!

Everybody knows that kids like imitating their parents and Markús is no exception. I just didn't know that he had seen me shake my head at his dad so often that he started doing the same. :)
He is shaking his head all the time now. It is really cute. And he is developing a bunch of new moves that he will be able to use in his future career as a Rock Star!
Here is a little video taken a few days ago of my little upcoming Rock Star:

On the ball!

Markús the little stud, has almost cracked the code in crawling! I was so excited right up until I realized that now I can't leave the room anymore. I didn't think I really did that a whole lot but over the last couple of days I am realizing how much I do that. Not for long periods of time or anything, but simply to go and put the laundry in or make the bed or go get a glass of water.
Usually he would just be sitting on his blanket and playing with a toy. He will still do that now when I leave the room but then when I come back 30 sek later he is half way across the room... Not good. So I am taking him with me around the house all the time now.
Today I was fixing dinner in the kitchen. I blocked off all the "no no" places and put him on the floor with a ball. And here is the result:
(he had already been doing it for quite a while at this point so he is a bit tired)

and here is another cute little bonus clip:

take two on a double date

My friend Inéz has a little girl only a few weeks older than Markús. So, when we were in Denmark in April we tried hooking them up...

Then yesterday we tried it out again. The only problem this time was that Eya had learned how to crawl and Markús hasn't. So when we sat them down together she keept crawling away. After this happening a few times Markús decides to take matters into his own hands and as she is about to crawl away again he grabs out after her and holds her down. Markús is pretty strong so as this is probably a bit discomfortable for poor Eya she tries to make him let go by hitting his hand and screaming. Better luck next time...
Unfortunately I didn't get that on video. But here is a different clip of the two not lovebirds:

Denmark the beautiful!

I'm in Denmark.
My sister was due to have her first baby last Monday (she has now gone 4 days over).  So I took Markús under my arm and jumped on a plane to be here. And now I'm just waiting...
In the meantime I'm spending time with friends,  hanging out with my family, eating lots and lots of danish food and drinking a ton of elderflower juice!!!  The only thing missing is my husband. (who is home in Iceland sick...) :(

It's really nice being home and showing Markús off to everyone.

I was a bit nervouse about taking Markús on the plane by myself. But since the plane left at 8:40 and he usually naps from 9-11 I thought he would sleep for a big part of the 3 hours. And yes, before we had even taken off he was asleep. And he stayed asleep for 20 min and then he woke up and was loud and happy for the rest of the trip. Too bad for the other passangers who wanted to sleep... sorry...
Here are some pictures of Markús sitting in his own seat on the plane...

And here is one of Markús in the airport in Iceland. He fell in love with this stroler and the little foot-thingy. He just sat in it and kicked and kicked and laughed out loud. It was so cute...

ACHOO!!!

A few days ago I had something in my nose and sneezed twice. Afterwards I looked at Markús who has the biggest smile on his face and then he starts laughing like crazy! It was the cutest thing! :)

This video was taken just mins after:

Things like these make it so amazing to be a stay at home mom! :)

Flex and Flexibility!

In my little branch of the church here in Iceland I am the leader of the 12-18 year old girls. We're not that many but we have fun.
About a month and a half ago we decide to make a movie. So together with the young men, they wrote a script and we started recording. Now 1.000.000 hours of editing (done by my brother-in-law Matti) later here is the movie result! (hint: Binni, Markús and I have a small part)

Flex and Flexibility Origins

The whole idea was based on a movie the young single adults (18-30 year-old's) made a few years back. So the new movie might make a bit more sense if you see the other one first. And then again maybe not... :)

Flex and Flexibility

Last night we had the big movie premiere! We had a long red carpet with paparazzi and interviewers and VIP seating for the "stars!". It was a blast.
It was so much fun doing the whole project with them. We have some pretty talented actors among us. :)
Hope you enjoyed!

The Markús around Iceland

Of course Markús was also on the trip and since he is the cutest baby ever to see the light of day in this world I wanted to share some of the cutest pictures and videos from the trip with you all.

Makrús has gotten to the age of wanting to touch EVERYTHING in his path:

He started this new thing "sticking his tongue out":

We went on a really beautiful 2k hike up to a waterfall. It was a little hard on Markús so on the way down he fell asleep:

A police station in a little town. Love it!!!:

Driving makes him a little bit crazy:

Binni doing some bonding with his son:

And I'll end with a relaxed picture of Binni and myself:

I love my little son! Him and Binni are the most important people in my life! :)

Iceland the beautiful!

It has been a little too long since last time I made a post but there is a reason for it. I have been on vacation!
I have lived in this beautiful country for 2 years now and have seen many magnificent things. Waterfalls, geothermal pools, geysers, mountains, angry killer birds etc. But only on the south side of the island.

So this summer my parents came over and we drove the whole circle. I knew Iceland was beautiful but now I know that it is breathtaking!

Our cameras ran out of battery a few times so there are a lot of things I didn't get any pictures of... :(

poop poop and poop

A few weeks ago a friend of mine said that she just couldn't understand why all people when they become parents lose their conversation etiquette. They start talking about poop and spit-up whenever and where ever. And you know what, it's true you really do. But that is because it becomes such a big part of your life (and because it comes from such a cute little thing)! When you see your friends and family what do you talk about? -the things that are going on in your life!

So when the little boy poops with such force that it simply shoots out of the diaper and up his back and out on his shoulders... -that is pretty impressive and worth blogging about! Here is a picture of Binni and Markús. (Binni was lucky enough to be the one to discover the amazing achievement)

The impressive thing was that it wasn't a lot it just went very far!

Other foods take 2

Markús is now a big fan of the baby rice. Eats them every day and happily. So Monday time came to try out other foods. I've read everything I can get a hold of about what to feed your child and when and what is best to start with and follow up with and so on and so on. So I decided to try out potatoes (mashed with his normal milk of course). And here is what happened!

We tried again the next day and he didn't love it but he ate it.

Today we were going to give him potato again (the smart people say to stick to the same thing for about a week before starting them on something new) but seeing as how today was his 6 months birthday and it didn't seem right to give him something he doesn't like on his birthday we decided to give him sweet potatoes. And he LOVED it! He had two portions and kept opening his mount for more. It was really cute. I didn't get a video of it but here is the result afterwards:

I am open for ideas and experiences on baby feeding!

TV shows with substance

About two weeks ago we started this new TV show called Firefly. It's kind of a Sci-fi western. And even though it might not be the best quality show it has some amazing lines in it! Such as:

  • "If I had wanted schooling I would have gone to school"
  • "My guess is that you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling"
  • and loads more that has nothing to do with schooling... :)

For the past few days we have been watching 2-3 episodes a day and we now only have 2 episodes left... This led me to ponder on what other TV shows I've been watching lately.
I've never been much into TV shows. Ok that is a lie, but my horizon has really been broadened over the last couple of years (since I got married). Let's see:

- 24
- Avatar the last airbender (cartoon)
- Jericho
- The Glades
- The vampire Diaries
- Falling Skies
- Fringe (a big favorite)
- Firefly

All good shows that I can recommend! :)

Tribute to our old apartment

Binni and I just moved and it was about time. Don't get me wrong, it was a great starters home. It had a livingroom/kitchen/bedroom/entrance (all in one), a bathroom and a big balcony (that we never used). It was small but probably the best used 38m2 ever!
The balcony door and the windows leaked whenever it rained and now and again the bathroom had a very strong smell that spread to the entire apartment whenever a window hadn't been opened for a couple of hours.
But it was home!

the livingroom.

the kitchen

the bedroom (and yes this is pretty much all of it)

the view (and the only thing I will miss)

But there comes a time in every families life where you just need a bit more...

So we went on the hunt for a new place and got something really amazing. It's close to Binni's family and the church not to mention the fact that our new livingroom is the size of our entire old apartment!
I love it! :) Just wanted to share that with the world.

Other foods than milk

For the past week now we have started Markús on solid foods. Even though the word "solid" is a bit misleading...
All in all it went pretty well. Day 1 he ate just a few spoon fulls. He liked it but also thought it was kinda strange.

Day 2 he found out that it's funny if you blow whenever a spoon comes up and touches your lips. From day 3 however he he ate whatever we put in front of him. Now we have gone up to a double portion and he eats it with ease!
I'm excited to try something other than baby rice next week.

A few weeks ago we gave him some water for the first time. It might not have been the best setting to try something new but it was fun for us!
